RESEARCH + DISCOVERY
Separation is defined as the action or state of moving, being moved apart, disconnection, division, and sorting. The definition itself has no positive or negative connotation. However, as we go through life we added definitions of words, adding meaning to them, based on our personal experiences. We might make choices that result in separation or we might be subjected to something outside our control that results in separation. Similarly, the outcome of the separation might be positive, neutral, or negative. Regardless of one circumstance, separation is indicative of change and change is often indicative of fear and uncertainty. Research suggests hearing and seeing stories about others who have survived similar challenges inspires people who are struggling to keep going and seek positive outcomes.
